Posted a picture of the Santa with Deer that I am working on.  Discussed briefly in my journal page the problem I am having with punky wood and also figuring out the back side of a deer.   Got a few suggestions,  which I tried with success today, about the punky wood.   Things are moving, although slowly...but being retired...I have nothing but time.   So progress to date photo is out there to see should you be interested.   Have been looking at deer reference books for the other problem.   Also posted an interesting idea that I carved in a club sponsored Saturday class, last Saturday.   It is a relief on photo frame.   I loved the piece of wood so while everyone else did a Christmas theme relief, on clear wood,  I did a southwest theme as the wood seemed to cry out...Arizona....Patti

I have no idea what punky wood is but if you are looking for a picture of the hind in I find children's coloring books helpful.  If this is a really dumb answer to what you asked please ignore me and delete this.... Lynette

Lynette,

Loved hearing your comment.   I have used coloring books in the past for relief subjects as they are basic but trustworthy line drawings.   There are no dumb answers or dumb questions just exchange of information.   I only wish I had a few answers and not so many questions.  Look forward to seeing some of your work.   Keep the chips flying.   patti

Forgot to mention that to me punky wood is wood that is spalted or has begun to rot or has been attacked by a fungus or some other unfortunate thing.   Not to sure what I am talking about but my husband says that I will speak on any subject so guess he is right.  Patti
