Well

This sounds good so far. A Christmas Ornament

Questions

Should there be a deadline for the completion?

Size limitations?

Who should be the Judges for the entries?

Voting to determine winners?

When do we start this?

My idea for an ornament exchange is that each carver  registers so that we have a finite group.

A deadline is determined for completion

One of the carvers is picked to be the administrator who determines who exchanges with who

Each carver carves a christmas ornament by the deadline

Each carver is told who he/she exchanges with and the exchange is made by mail

Size limitations are something like 2 inches to 6 inches

There are no judges

Everyone wins

Lets get it started.

I am officially in.

I will have my ornament completed by March 1

The rules and judging??? that's up to the boss... or we can just post a picture someplace...do not ask me as I am not a computer person.. I can throw in a number of Name Tags for give aways..  if that is needed..

I could also post some patterns if any one would  want/or use.. I have some on my web site.. BUT that will close down at the end of May.. just have not got the time(if you have noticed ) to keep it current..The last two years the two of us have been almost confined to the house/show..and a number of doctors' offices..we both still carve as much as we can and put things in boxes.. some we can find a few months later and some??? they are hear somewhere...

any way I am game.. "let's do something as the old saying goes...or get off the pot"

Good night,

Will

I had started a new thread for the Ornament exchange and was waiting for responses from the carvers. The new thread is here http://mycarvingclub.com/forum/posts/id_39/title_ornament-exchange/ Also was hoping to attract more carvers to make it a little more interesting, but we can certainly go ahead with the five carvers that we have.

If all of the carvers would send me a PM with their mailing address, I will shuffle the list and reply to each carver telling him/her who to mail their ornament to.

I have carved mine and will paint it in the next couple of days.

Also, I began carving a couple of  eagle head cane handles today which I hope to give away as part of the Wounded Warrior Eagle Cane Project when they are completed.

This is the first bird carving I have ever done and I may be looking for some ideas from you bird carvers regarding detailing the feathers, which at this point I have no clue where to start.

Will, glad you are feeling better, hope it wasn't too serious.

Enough rambling for now!

Don R
