Kaisersatt Seminar
Posted On 09/11/2008 09:54:35 by Larry_in_Harrow
Hi,
I got to attend a two day caricature seminar with Marv Kaisersatt on Sept. 9 and 10 at Chipping Away in Kitchener, Ontario.
The subject was " Head design and carving".  Had a really good time with Marv and a 7 other students.  There is a wealth of knowledge buried in his book in cartoon form.  Listening to him in person unlocks this previously overlooked stuff.  For instance, the last page contains a cartoon panel which lays out the step by step process for desi... Time flies like the wind; fruit flies like bananas.....

Wow. Has it really been three months since I was last able to write?
     Sheeeeeesh.
Well, things have been quiet on the carving front for me this last summer. I DO have a couple of projects that I will write about in the next few days, but I really haven't had much time (or energy, to be honest) to keep up with my carving. You can read the whole chapter here http://www.carvinginnyc.com/sowc%20chapter%209.htm .................................. Read More

Something inside me allows me to take on those carvings that I feel are way above my current skill level.  I find I learn the most from those.  Right now I am working with an antique dealer repairing the things that have been cluttering up his basement and garage.  It is mostly classical designs which have a piece missing here or there which need to be replaced and then recarved.  I have aspired to this type of carving for a few years now but this is my first real steps towar... MAYBE I SHOULD BE AN ARTIST
Posted On 06/29/2008 16:21:22 by dennisgordon
Since the forum has been a little dead lately, I'm going to pose a question on it that has perplexed me for some time, but I'm going to give a little background here on this journal first.
About a month and a half ago, a town about 20 miles from where I live had an "Art On The Square" show.  Well, first of all, this town does not have a town square as I know them to be.  It has a fountain in the middle of an intersection and I guess this is what... Read More
