May 27, This past weekend I attended the NorthEast CCA CarveAlong hosted by the Mystic Carvers at the W Alton Jones Campus. It was a fantastic weekend! The CCA Instructors were Harley Refsal, Pete Ortel, and Joe You. The sessions were wonderful, the evenings listing to presentations and sharing and carving and sharing, and the meals and accomodations were so very nice. What a fun but tedious carving this has been. Problems galore but very interesting and lots of learning along the way. Yesterday finally decided enough is enough...when do you really know when it is "done". Carving Safely Be Alert!!! Keep a well stocked first aid kit nearby as eventually you will cut yourself. Keep you’re your tools sharp and in good condition. Remove unnecessary items from your workspace. Use carving gloves and tape to protect hands and fingers until you have the experience to go without them.
