Hmm, well I've been actively thinking about and reading about carving for about 7 years. I've actually carved off and on (mostly off sadly) for about 3 years. I got started because have a love for Fantasy and Mythological creatures, greenman, tree spirits, all things rustic and earthy. Got interested in woodworking many years ago and just never had the money or the space to build a really nice shop, so I scaled my interest back to carving to fit what I could do.

I LOVE greenmen (Chris Pye), woodspirits (never tire of them), fantasy & mythologically themed themed carvings both in the round and relief (love Shawn Cipa's work).

Mainly into carving woodspirits in hiking sticks and bark right now, but also wanting to learn larger relief work.

Really seeing deeply and drawing, relief carving, sharpening, etc.

None at the moment - though I've visited the Mid Hudson Woodcarver's Guild a couple times. Would love to join and get active but my commute makes it tough to get out in time.

Music - rock, new age, instrumental, Native American flute

Guitar - been playing for 30 yrs. Also very into helping my kid's band with music business, audio, recording, and lighting. This has been taking me away from carving for the last year.

Reading - Fantasy (Lord of the Rings my all time fav.), SciFi, tech manuals, carving, woodworking, alternative energy, etc.

Not accepting any yet - and you wouldn't want me yet. But someday . . . ;-)

Well - I should come clean right from the start . . . this is NOT something I carved and I didn't even take the pic. It's a photo of a stone greenman face from the cathedral in Bamburg Germany and is one of the images that inspired me to want to carve.  So I use it as my avatar. Just to set the record straight.  I'll post an actual pic of me once I have one to put up. Using this as a placeholder.
