My name is Hal Harsin

I have been doing woodworking for about 20 years. I began doing woodturning with a 36" table model Sears lathe and did yhe usual bowls, lamps and vases. My workshop was in the garage, unheated and with only a fan for cooling. I graduated to a 36" Jet floor model about 10 years ago when I retired from my day job as Medical Director of a 500 bed hospital. At about the same time I began doing wood carving, mostly high and low relief. recently, I bought a 42" Jet and have begun to do wine bottle stoppers. Now I do a lot of power carving as the arthritis in my hands don't allow me to use knives, etc. I do a lot of intarsias and 3D items like dolphins and whales. Take a look at my photos.

I do a lot of power carving due to arthritis of my hands. I also do a lot of wood turning.

I enjoy doing intarsia wall hangings and wine bottle stoppers.

I have been a member of the Belleville, Illinois Holzschnitzers for many years.

I do a lot of gardening...I grow palm trees and citrus trees which, since I live in the north, have to have frost protection in the winter.
