I got started about 2 years ago. I was bored with the same old crafts and wanted something different. It's hard to keep up with the crafters in my family. Now I do something none of them are doing.

The best part is teaching my junior high school students to carve. Some of them have done some marvelous things. And the praise I get from their mothers is awesome!

I like all kinds of carvings. Everything I look at intriques me and I spend hours trying to figure out how to do it. I guess my least favorite is chip carving.

I've enjoyed everything I've done so far. My favorite is a caged ball I did out of cedar. The dark heartwood makes a nice ball inside the light "cage" from the outer wood.

I want to learn more about the tools we need. All I can find around here are the hobby store things that don't hold an edge. Most of the work my students are doing is with Xacto knives.

I wish there was one in my area to join. I haven't found any in southwest Louisiana.

I enjoy my family; husband, 5 children, 4 grands, numerous others. My husband and I are looking forward to summer travel now that all the children are raised. I want to try my hand at photography as well.
