On the road with Ol' Don and Sandie
Posted On 05/01/2008 13:52:20 by OlDonBurgdorf
Thought I'd pass some time by writing a few thoughts about where we've been and where we're heading...  something to do while sitting in a campground (with wi-fi) in Russelville, Arkansas.  We're heading for Mountain Home, Arkansas for their club show this weekend after spending a month in Texas.  Two weeks were in Glen Rose, Texas for their annual Spring carver's rally.  It was our first time there for that event which was started in the mid-1980s.  It is hosted by a campground and though attendance was down this year (anyone want to talk about gas prices?) we had a good time and enthusiastic students.  This was followed by our second visit to the Texas Woodcarvers Guild's annual Spring Rally in Fredericksburg, Texas where I taught a 3-day class on carving a recognizable caricature of someone you know followed by 3 days of folk carving the project of their choice from my roughout inventory.  If you've never attended a carver's roundup or rally, put it on your list of things to do.  You'll not only benefit from the wide choice of classes offered but the evening music jam sessions and other social events will make lifetime memories for you.  That's it for now.  More later from somewhere on down the road.  --Ol' Don
