I first became interested in carving back in 1977 when we went to Silver Dollar City on vacation. I bought a stick of wood that was suppose to become a ball in a cage and a chain. I worked on it off and on for many years, but quit when I broke it in to two pieces. My next attempt was a small decoy, which still to this day is not complete, but I must say it isn't too bad. Someday i will take a picture of it and post on the site.

I enjoy all types of wood carving. It would be very hard just to pick just one, but if I had to pick one it would have to be relief, or maybe caricature, or chip, or carving in the round, decoy's, or maybe even wild life.

You name it and I would probably enjoy attempting it. Although it may not look much like I envisioned it when I started.

Anything that would help me to become a better carver and be able to pass those skills on to others.

Some of my other interests are: family, woodworking (ask me about my "Shopsmith" if you have a lot of time), clock repair, reading, photography, traveling, amateur radio and weather. I have a blog where I post articles about weatherlore and weather events. If you want to take a look sometime it is www.weathertales.com.

I am not ready to sell any of my work or take commissions. Maybe someday when the quality of my work satisfies me I may consider selling some pieces, although I don't know if I will ever get to the point where I will be satisfied. I will probably always think I could do better.
